In conjunction with the French Animation Film Festival, Fantasium Group curated and presented the VR exhibition to provide an entirely new perspective that allows to alternatively discover French famous masterpieces.
The exhibition consisted of four interactive experiences within four selected classic art pieces: A bar at Folies Bergère by Edouard Manet, The Water Lily by Claude Monet, Children’s Games by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, and Gauguin’s inner journey, an imagination of Paul Gauguin’s visit in Tahiti.
In May 2019, “A Virtual Exploration of French Art” was hosted at the Alliance Française de Singapour by Fantasium, as part of the French Animation Film Festival, receiving an audience of over 400 people.
“This is the first time Alliance Française is hosting a VR exhibition,” says the Executive Director, Anne-Garance Primel.
She said that VR in the arts is a very good media for Alliance Française due to great public interest, and exclaimed that “this is a very successful exhibition.”
Members of the Alliance Française de Singapour were intrigued by the quality and type of VR experiences being showcased at the exhibition. The Cultural Programming Manager, Pauline Jorge, expressed that she has experienced VR before, but that these are very special because of the different storytelling styles.
